Dermatopathology
Sometimes to render excellent skin care, evaluation of diseases beyond that of the "naked eye" is required. Such requirement justifies the need for a skin biopsy for microscopic examination whether performed to evaluate for a possible cancer or a rash that may indicate a more severe internal disease. Nowhere in pathology is the correlation between the understanding of the clinical disease present on the body and the findings seen under the microscope more important than in Dermatopathology.
Tri-Cities Skin & Cancer recognizes the need for such a marriage of two specialties. That Union is necessary to provide the level of excellence we desire for our patients. With two board-certified Dermatopathologists on staff, we opened Tri-Cities Dermatopathology Laboratory within our campus-a unique addition that is a first in the east Tennessee and southwest Virginia corridor. The lab is staffed with extremely experienced histotechnologists and managed closely by two of our experienced Dermatopathologists.
Having such a close connection between the clinical exam and the histologic evaluation of skin disease allows for more appropriate and directed patient care. Such also allows for improved efficiency, quality control, and timely data collection than could ever be possible in the past. You can be assured that with our vast clinical and pathology experience of dermatopathology that you are receiving the most expert care for your disease that is available in American medicine.
